Community Development Seminar

The Community Development Seminar provides an introduction to seeing communities transformed towards God’s intentions. The focus is on a Biblical understanding of the root causes of poverty and underdevelopment and the strategies needed to enable people to overcome the hurdles to their community’s transformation.

The seminar is the first 4 weeks of the  longer Community Development School and  you will enjoy a rich interaction with the school missionary members, students and speakers of both programs.  The cost of the Community Development Seminar is 1,195 USD.

Weekly Schedule

Experienced practitioners will share foundational Biblical truths, principles, methods, insights, and models of community development which are essential for the transformation of communities. As well the classroom of students & staff from diverse backgrounds provides a rich cross-pollination learning & networking experience.

Lectures/Classroom 20 Hours/Week

Experienced and seasoned teachers will join us in the classroom where we will have a rich environment of learning from one another through lectures, participatory learning, discussions, small groups, bible studies, and workshops.


Worship & Intercession 6 Hours/Week

6 Hours/Week

We will be joining our YWAM Montana - Lakeside family for corporate times of intercession & worship throughout the week.  As a school each morning we will begin with times of worship & intercession.

Small Groups 2 Hours/Week

2 Hours/Week

Each week we will be meeting in a smaller informal group to discuss the weeks topic and other relevant topics.

One on One Discipleship 2 Hours/Week

2 Hours/Week

You will have weekly one-on-one meetings with a school missionary member who will mentor you throughout the seminar and provide space for further processing and personal growth.

School Leaders

Arnold Rottier

Arnold has been with YWAM since 1986 and has served in Uganda, Hawaii, Indonesia, Switzerland, South Africa and Montana. He grew up on a farm in Alberta, Canada; the oldest of five children in a Dutch immigrant family. He did his DTS in 1986 in Heidebeek, Holland, with an outreach in Uganda followed by a School of Mercy, Relief and Development in Vancouver, Canada, with a field assignment in Mexico. Educationally, he holds a B.Sc in Agriculture from the University of Alberta. Arnold has worked primarily in the area of Community Development training with YWAM’s Community Development School (CDS) formerly known as the Foundations in Community Development (FCD) School. His heart vision is to see people equipped for long-term ministry within communities. Arnold enjoys his family, reading, the outdoors and gardening.
