Together we commit to the communication of the gospel by training, sending, supporting and being missionaries.
One of the greatest ways we can know God is through His Word. However, millions of people around the world don’t have a single verse of Scripture in their language!
Bible translation is about getting God’s Word into a language people can understand so they can know who God really is. It is more than just getting a book into a new language, it’s the foundation for evangelism, church planting, indigenous worship, and discipleship. Translation opens the door for distribution and creates opportunities for life-changing encounters with God as people engage with His Word in their heart language.
Come spend a week hearing from translators with long-term experience overseas! Learn the building blocks of translation and what you can expect to see on the field. Discover how God has equipped and gifted you! Find your fit and determine your next steps as you explore practical ways to engage with Bible translation and End Bible Poverty Now!
Come see how God speaks through His Word in people’s heart language. You can engage with the process of getting God’s Word into the heart language of those who are still waiting!

Josh has been with YWAM since 2014, when he did his DTS in Belize. In the following years, as he received more Biblical training, he was struck with the need for people to know how to engage with their Bible. In 2019 Josh began working with End Bible Poverty Now and is passionate about God transforming nations through the translation and distribution of His Word.
Andy grew up in Bolivia, watching his parents translate for the Ignaciano people. This reinforced in Andy the importance of the Word in the mother tongue. He later moved to Peru to serve in aviation maintenance. In 2000 Andy and his wife, Jan, moved back to the US where they now work in building partnerships for the sake of the Bibleless.
While Andy was in University, he and his wife, Audrey, were challenged to be aware and involved in what God was doing around the world. This eventually led to them spending 20 years working as Bible translators in Papua New Guinea, working as a senior translation consultant, and overseeing almost 200 translation programs. Andy now speaks on college campuses and is the teaching pastor at the Sauk Valley Community Church.
Amy is a Senior Scripture Engagement Consultant for SIL International. She grew up in Guatemala where her parents served with Wycliffe Bible Translators. In 1988 God led her to work with Wycliffe and then for SIL in the Philippines. Seeing how believers often still struggled with some of their cultural pressures, Amy was led to co-develop the "Culture meets Scripture" training with Jo Shetler.
Jo translated the New Testament and parts of the Old for a group of headhunters in the northern Philippines. She also headed the Anthropology Department for SIL Philippines. Jo currently works as a Scripture Engagement Consultant for SIL International. She authored "And the Word Came with Power" and co-developed the "Culture Meets Scripture" Workshop with Amy West.
Bruce and Jan have been involved with Wycliffe Bible Translators for over 37 years. In 1979 they moved to Peru and spent 31 years working with translation among the Quechua people in the central Peruvian Andes. They worked on both the Huamalies Quechua New Testament, published in 2003, and the Huallaga Quechua Bible, published in 2011. The Bensons are now retired in Oregon City and continue to teach Perspectives and ESL.
Sandy has a wide variety of missionary experiences and a long history with Wycliffe and the Bible Translation Movement. Her focus for the past eight years has been on Oral Bible Storytelling as a means to empower Bibleless people groups to know God through hearing and telling Bible stories in their own language. Sandy recently completed a DTS in Colorado Springs and the Word by Heart course at YWAM Montana.
Ray is originally from Southern California and joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1989. He and his wife, Teryl, moved to Russia as newlyweds and worked among the Chuvash people, helping them to translate and training Chuvash co-workers who went on to complete the New Testament, which was published in 2009. After returning to the US, Ray served in a variety of leadership roles with Wycliffe US, including Regional Director for the Southeast, Director of Recruiting, and as a Major Donor development officer for The Seed Company.
Teryl has been a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators for 31 years. She and her husband, Ray, served on a Bible translation project with the Chuvash people in Russia. In 2010 Teryl began working with Seed Company in Nigeria where she served as Bible Translation Consultant, Team Leader for Anglophone Africa, Global Bible Translation Training Coordinator, and most recently as Acting Vice President of Bible Translation. She is now serving in the Global Partnerships Strategic Innovation Group.
Dr. Timothy Hatcher has been with Wycliffe Bible Translators for 22 years. His family lived and worked in Bulgaria and Russia. He has led many Scripture engagement workshops in Central Asia, Russia, and around the world. For the last 10 years, he has taught Scripture engagement courses for Dallas International University (a Wycliffe school).
Lynley and her husband, Tim, have two young adult children. She has worked in the field of Scripture engagement for the last twelve years and serves as the International Scripture Engagement Coordinator. Tim and Lynley have been to every continent except Australia and Antarctica (they still want to see those kangaroos and penguins in their natural habitats!).
Linda Dixon began serving in YWAM in 2018 after spending five years training and discipling servant leaders in East and Central Africa. During her time in Africa, she began facilitating Trauma Healing seminars to address the many deeply wounded hearts that she encountered. She is now partnering with the Trauma Healing Institute and is passionate about helping leaders within YWAM be equipped to address heart wounds and find healing in Christ.
Durk and his wife, Sandy, joined Wycliffe in 1987. Working in media and communications since the 1970’s, Durk is an internationally known specialist in the area of ethno-communications and orality. He was key in starting SIL’s International Media Service, International Orality network, and Kalaam Media. Dirk has worked with Oral Bible Translation since 2012 and serves as a consultant and trainer with Spoken Worldwide. His heart is on fire to serve as a catalyst in his Creator’s hands as God establishes His church among the nations.
