EST. 1985

During this outreach training program, dancers are discipled spiritually as they are physically equipped through dance technique classes and rehearsals. They are then released to use their gifts in missions overseas. The first weeks are spent training here in Lakeside, Montana. Summer of Dance will prepare you to go out and share who God is by using both words and dance. And we challenge students to hear God’s voice in the midst of their everyday lives. Our group then travels to another country to use their talents to minister to other people. Each outreach concludes with a debriefing time designed to help students process through their entire experience.

Lecture Phase

During this intense lecture phase we begin to work as a team by developing friendships and unity which prepare us to go to another country and share who Jesus is with other people. It’s a lot of work, but very rewarding to see everything come together for the glory of God. By the end of Summer of Dance your fellow teammates will be some of your best friends. You will grow in the Lord and develop your skills as a dancer and communicator. Dancers are encouraged to worship God with dance as they train and prepare to use their talent cross-culturally for the advancement of God’s kingdom. Summer of Dance runs alongside our other Summer Programs, and we are privileged to join with them for morning prayer, worship, and lectures. We also take time for reflection in both smaller groups and one-on-one settings with program staff.

Worship & Intercession

We will take time each week to join together as a group to worship God, declare the goodness of His character, and pray for other people and places.

Lecture Time

Morning lectures focus on discovering and building our identity as Christians and how to effectively share God's love with the world.

Dance Technique Class

We take the time to daily train in different dance techniques so that our bodies are ready and able to freely express our hearts. Our classes often focus on jazz, modern, hip hop, and ballet.

Dance Rehearsal

Both dance staff and invited guest artists teach a variety of dances. These dances are then taken on outreach with the intention of using them to share Christ's love with the world.

Work Duties

At YWAM Montana we believe in a servant-hearted attitude and lifestyle. So as a part of the school curriculum, you will serve in different areas on our campus  during the week. You will serve in areas like: Meal prep, Meal clean-up, housekeeping, facilities, maintenance, etc.

Additional Weekly Group Activities

Additional activities throughout the time may include hiking in Glacier National Park, bonfires, barbecues, swimming in Flathead Lake, Tubing down the Swan River and other fun adventures.

The most exciting part of outreach is seeing God open unexpected doors for us to share our faith through movement and words. We often participate in dance performances, teach dance workshops, and serve in practical ways on outreach. Our ministry venues may include streets, dance studios, marketplaces, schools, universities, churches, and homeless shelters. Our outreaches have gone to Germany, Taiwan, Costa Rica, South Africa, Ecuador, and many other countries.
