Summer of Sports

Summer of Sports (SOS) is an outreach training program that uses a variety of team sports as a tool to share the gospel. The YWAM Montana Lakeside Summer of Sports trains athletes physically as well as spiritually and then releases them to use their skills in a foreign nation on outreach. The first few weeks of the program will be spent here in Lakeside, Montana where you will train, attend lectures, and hone your skills in a number of different sports. Topics during the lecture phase include ‘Foundations of the Christian Faith’, ‘The Character and Nature of God’, ‘Worship and Intercession’, ‘Relationships’, ‘Evangelism’, ‘Creativity’ and many more.

The lecture phase is followed by an overseas outreach where you will get to use your skills on the mission field. The outreach time will take the students cross-culturally, enabling them to utilize their gifts and skills in sharing the Gospel. Each outreach concludes with a debriefing time designed to help students process through their entire experience.

The Summer of Sports’ goal is to see young people discipled and sent out to evangelize in the nations of the world. Sports can be used to bring together people from every background and nationality. The Summer of Sports seeks to use athletics as a door into the lives of people who may have never heard the good news of Jesus. In the SOS you will be equipped to evangelize and disciple the nations while using the athletic talent and passion that God has given you for sports. By learning how to share biblical principles through sports and improving your athletic skills, you will find that you are able to meet people right where they are. By using a common interest in sports to build relationships with people you will create a bond of trust and friendship. Sports can provide an open door to the hearts of people who might otherwise be closed off to hearing the Good news of Christ.
